Review on Erickson 34409 Orange Buckle Tie Down by Robert Gilbert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great straps, great price, durable.

Great straps, great price. This is my second set of these. My first set lasted over three years with regular heavy use. I haven't had any failures, just thought they look old and worn and I should replace them just to be safe. They are currently cheaply priced for rated load compared to other belts. I've tried many different belts. I'm not interested in ratchet straps and these are the best buckle straps I've tried. The oversized strap offers good carrying capacity, the stitching quality is excellent, and the buckle closure is excellent. Other straps have small grommets on the buckle that loosen after a few uses, or flimsy buckles with flimsy springs, but you won't find that here. strong after years of use. I wish I had a sewing machine that could handle webbing materials, I would buy webbing and reuse my buckles. As another reviewer pointed out, they initially slip off unless you give the buckle extra pull to help. bite the net (which is a good habit anyway). This is normal for polyester based mesh and quickly improves after the buckle has scratched the band a few times and it has withstood the weather for a while. The slippery surface of the strap quickly becomes non-slip, and this keeps the strap taut better than any other cambuckle strap I've used. Eight feet is sufficient for most purposes. The end is a stub so you can trim it to any length without sacrificing functionality. If I could change one thing it would be to add a spring loaded clasp to cover the hook so even if the strap does come loose it won't come loose. I'm trying out a new strap I found with hooks with gates, let's see what happens.
