First impression (good)

We bought this clock to replace an anniversary mantel clock that just wasn't keeping the time properly. It just arrived and we installed it. This watch is definitely easy to read! It looks spectacular and a bit baroque, with a design that suits us very well. It's really quiet! When I put the batteries in I wasn't sure if the second battery was in, but when I checked the watch it worked. I was so used to the rather quiet (but noticeable) "ticking" of these clocks that I was surprised that they really are "quiet". The pendulum was packed separately and had to be attached. it was a bit difficult but doable. Battery Compartment - The entire part of the watch is inserted at an angle. It doesn't seem to affect anything, but it looked weird at first. Inserting the batteries was also a bit fiddly. The bottom battery is engraved with positive and negative locations, while the top battery isn't - instead, the poles are indicated through holes in the plastic. I missed her at first. Also, the pendulum mount interferes with the batteries and dial for setting the time. I think this is pretty bad design, but hopefully I won't have to adjust the time that often. Although this clock looks like it's made out of wood, it's not - it's made out of wood-colored plastic. It's obvious when handled, but it looks good. All in all a good watch and I hope it lasts.
