If you care about the environment, not your coffee

I've been using these coffee filters for a few days now, long enough to appreciate them. Reports of them falling apart are true, they are very fragile. Folding at the seam is a necessity, not a simple recommendation. If I followed the right steps, the filter never broke. But how easily the filter broke when I took it out of my Melita after brewing makes it clear that mistakes can cause foundations to show up in your morning coffee. Extra time in my daily routine to take care of the filter. Ultimately, this shouldn't be the coffee maker's fault or responsibility, it just has to be stronger than it is. Taste is perhaps more important. You'll never completely avoid the taste of paper when brewing with a filter, but the taste of the If You Care filter was particularly strong. This gave cardboard and paper grocery bags a strong flavor with some sweetness. This dulled the more subtle flavors that came out when I used different filters. I did a test by giving the filter a few washes, tasting the washes, and after three washes the flavor was still stronger than I would have liked. I don't have time to wash this filter often in the morning and if I do I risk weakening the flimsy paper even more. In his defense and why I'm not giving him a star, does what he says. For those who are aware of the toxins, this gives some reassurance. There's a kind of excitement to feeling those wellness moments. But those moments are fleeting and you end up with a cup of coffee that would have been better with a different filter. And if you're anything like me, those beans have come a long way to get to you, and brewing a mediocre coffee with them is just as much a waste of time as anything else. I doubt I will buy them again. For a person for whom compostability is very important, this is a worthy product. It works out. But in doing so, you sacrifice the handling and flavor of your beans.
