I decided to get one of these infrared thermometers because I see them all the time in pan/flathead/blackstone videos where people are measuring surface temperatures. I didn't realize there were so many options so I chose this product because it was a great price and seemed to fit the temperature tolerances and ranges like others that cost more. Pros: Batteries are included. It has a simple but detailed instruction manual. easy reading. It is read with an accuracy of 2 degrees. Cons: - Hot objects can be more difficult to test (this seems common to all, think internal vs. surface temperature) - The manual describes radiation from metals but doesn't include other surfaces (probably because there's more of is). a scientific instrument) than an outdoor grilling tool lol) I decided to test between my digital thermometer and this one just to see the difference. At low temperatures they were the same and this seems to be true for using these tools (cold doesn't seem to be an issue). water temperature. My digital thermometer read about 151 while this read about 138/140. However, as I moved my digital thermometer higher, the reading became clearer that the infrared thermometer was measuring the surface temperature. I noticed that my tank is empty. However, I had a spare tank! It was also empty because when it gets hot you have to keep that temperature and I changed tanks mid-cook and forgot about it. I highly recommend this product. So excited to use this on my flat top for future cooks out there.
