I'll address them at the beginning. These are amazing foam applicators! They are soft enough not to damage car paint but strong enough to give a decent amount of hand buffing if needed. - a coating that may leave swirls and/or scratches. The downside is they need a bit more product as they soak up some of it and it can get pretty messy if you apply too much pressure causing the absorbed product to spill out. I highly recommend working at a moderate pace, using light pressure for waxing and moderate pressure for buffing. They are too soft to be used effectively with joints. Compounding usually requires the use of a microfiber or terry applicator as they can "bite” into the polish and remove scratches and swirls. As for cleaning, I have a few pros and cons. In general, cleaning is straightforward. Use any detergent (I used dish soap) or your favorite foam cleaner (e.g. a sponge cleaner) along with some warm water to clean the pads. DO NOT put them in the washing machine! Most detergents contain dyes that will permanently stain these pads that color. I learned this the hard way because I got tired after 15 hours of color grading on a pretty battered black mini. Toss them in the washing machine and headed back to the blue foam pads. I highly recommend air drying them after washing. You could get away with setting your dryer on low heat, but be aware that those foam pads can melt and I didn't want to risk ruining my very expensive dryer with a couple of foam pads. In terms of durability I'd rate them only slightly above average as some of my pads have started to develop small cracks around the edges, but for the price of each pad I'd say it's acceptable, especially after using them for buffing and polishing Polish used waxing 2 sedans, 1 coupe, 1 large SUV and 1 large van. Again, I would highly recommend these pads to anyone, especially since they come in a pack of 4.
