Disappointed after high expectations

Disappointed after high expectations. I bought a Kuhn Rikon press to replace my old Zyliss based on Cook's Illustrated recommendation and Revain reviews. I've been using it for about a year and am finally giving up. I am planning to buy another Ziliss. I expected an excellent product considering the high price and am disappointed that I had to give it up and buy something else. The problem is that the press doesn't manage to push the garlic through the holes. The perforated plate doesn't fit the sides of the press exactly, so about 1/4 of the garlic is squeezed out of the press, resulting in long strips of garlic that I have to mince before using. Also, each time you press the clove, a sheet of garlic fiber is left behind to cover the holes. This creates more resistance when you press on the next clove, pushing more of the next clove out of the sides. As a result, between pressing each clove, we have to scrape the garlic fiber with our fingers to free up holes for the next clove. Instead of making the pressing of the garlic easier, this press creates a lot of waste and extra work. Pros: Durable, easy to clean, stainless steel (so the finish doesn't chip). Cons: Waste, extra work to break up the mess left by the press.
