For a 3.5 x 5.5 / 4x6 post cap size this may or may not work. For me it was a failure. Based on the condition of the packaging of what I received I would expect this to be unacceptable to many people. This is very good quality cast aluminum. I think they could forego their branding on either side, but okay. How well it matches your wooden post is crucial. The inside of this cover is 4" x 6" and is lined with a nylon/plastic gasket to accommodate 3.5" x 5.5" rack mounting. Depending on the sawmill that the treated pine post came from, you may not get a 5.5 inch wide post. . Since the holes for the mounting screws are on either end of the 4" wide cover, if you still have air space within the width of the plastic spacer and wood because your bar is just over 5.25" wide (like mine) you should , the screw attachment scheme just doesn't work. Should have missed the pucks. After that you still have a cap that looks too wide for the post. Since rough-sawn cedar posts of this size are not a full 4" x 6" (closer to 3.75" x 5.75"), the washer will be too thick to help and the lid itself will fail without it be too big You will also route the inside edge of the cover to screw it onto a rack of this size. My three star rating is just to say that I am neutral about this cap size. Again, the quality of the cast is very good. If their powder paint contains UV inhibitors then I would reckon these are the highest quality square/rectangular aluminum fence caps in the business. But when they don't match, that subtlety loses a lot of its luster.
