Why didn't I buy this sooner. I asked myself this question after buying the instrument. I tried for a long time to adjust the rear derailleur on my touring bike, it shifts just as smoothly as on my other bikes. Hence I was so confident in my mechanical skills and my ability to detect switch misalignment, at least I thought so. After purchasing this tool, it took me 5 minutes to realize that the gimbal was out by 5mm. A little flexing with the tool and a slight adjustment of the derailleur brought back smooth shifting. The money is well spent there. This tool itself is well made and has no complex or high precision mechanical part to fail. In my opinion, you don't have to pay more for a well-known brand and still get the same benefits that it offers.
