I received this device about 2 weeks ago and I am still very happy with it. built-in stereo speakers, FM tuner, or even whether it records in stereo or mono. I looked at the Sony Pressman recorders but none of them come with an external microphone and headphones. It was the only Walkman I could find with a detachable mic AND headphones. The supplied stereo microphone is very suitable for voice recordings and the supplied headphones sound very good for both speech and music. The FM stereo sound is of very good quality thanks to both the headphones and the internal stereo speakers. The bass boost and volume limiter are nice features that I wasn't looking for but found useful when trying them out. I found the amount you can cram onto one tape very convenient, and the half-speed voice recording quality is excellent. I have a couple of minor complaints - the headphone jack is very sensitive, causing intermittent audio dropouts in the speaker with very little movement of the headphone plug and/or cable. You need to secure the connector and cable to get a reliable signal on both channels when listening while walking or jogging. Hiking or jogging, you only have two options - carry it in your hand or put it in your pocket. The included earbuds have a cord attached to each earbud, which then connects under your neck to form a cord. This configuration makes it impossible for the cable to spin quickly and almost impossible to fully unwind once it has happened. A single cable configuration would be easier and better. You may need an AC/DC adapter. Try it first - they have a matching 3VDC adapter. Electricity for about $. Sony wants $ for theirs. All in all it's a good recorder and player with all the features you need plus some nice extras. If you're considering a Sony Pressman, take a look at the WM-GX221, it might just be what you're looking for!
