Tahoe 2005 with 5.3 ton engine 180 degree slotted muffler with towable tail and loose exhaust guard. Because the entire OEM exhaust system is a welded assembly, you must replace the intermediate pipe, muffler, and exhaust pipe together from the same supplier. I used a 52275 intermediate pipe, a 21423 stainless steel silent muffler and a 54382 exhaust pipe. They all fit together very well on the floor as the pipes go into the muffler or overlap or slide into the muffler. Instead of traditional C-clamps, I used two narrow Nickson 2 3/4" clamps with a bolt on each end of the muffler. Everything stood up with no modifications. No additional bends or cuts were required. The car runs smooth, the engine runs smoother than idle and the transmission shifts smoother because the back pressure is constant. The only problem was removing the two stock exhaust bolts on the Y-pipe as one had to be drilled out and a new bolt and nut installed which took extra time .
