Fragile blade: Asian knives

I bought this knife along with another Global chef's knife. Both blades broke after 2 years of use. The balance and sharpness of this knife is fantastic, but they just don't survive over time. Small metal chips flake off the blade and give it an uncomfortable jagged edge. I bought bamboo handle Japanese Nakiri and Santoku knives to replace Global knives and I am very happy with them!
