Each cube is approximately 1 1/2 inches. You will receive 2 cubes and a snap-top storage/freezer container. Inside each of these hermetic cases is a liquid (they're not solid metal cubes). frozen, you can hear the liquid inside. Once frozen (which takes several hours (4-6 stated on package)) you can add 1 or more to your drink to chill or keep it chilled just like you would with ice. They won't melt when heated and won't dilute your drink like ice. I would say they perform about as well and last as long as ice cubes of the same size and quantity in terms of cooling. It's best to keep your drink cool versus chilling a warm drink. I don't notice that they add a metallic taste to what you're drinking. After use and washing, make sure to dry well before putting it back in the storage container / freeze and freeze so they don't get stuck in a container with frozen ice outside. I buy ed 2 sets. One of the 4 cubes is slightly wider than the others and will get stuck in the container after freezing. The other 3 come out easily, but this one takes some effort to get out.
