I like this sharpener for several reasons: 1. Sharpens at a great angle.2. There is no need to guess the angle like using a bar or steel. With this sharpener you simply pull the knife through. Very easy.3. The sharpener is designed to be mounted on the edge of a table/bench. This will secure it to a very stable surface. I like it because you don't have to worry about the sharpener moving or slipping out of your hand or anything. Very safe.4. Does a great job of sharpening. It takes about 5 light sticks through this sharpener and your knife will be super sharp.5. The sharpener blades can always be flipped over if the sharpener isn't sharpening as well. So this obviously doubles the life of the sharpener. Most sharpeners I've seen don't allow this.
