Firstly, most of the negative reviews I've seen don't seem to understand what this product is for - it's not a thermos. You don't reheat the soup, then pop it in your bag and take it somewhere a few hours later — it's a microwavable mug with a lid. The handle prevents you from touching the sides of the hot bowl, while the lid protects the microwave from splattering and reduces cooking time. If you have to go somewhere after cooking in the microwave, e.g. For example, bringing the soup back to the table at work or the like, a lid will help prevent spills. Before cooking in the microwave, remove the small ventilation grille. It easily holds large soup cans like Campbell's Chunky. The plastic is easy to clean and BPA-free, which I think we should be using this week. The lid isn't tight enough to pour soup in and then not carry it upright, but again, it's not a thermos so there's no point in doing that. I keep this in my desk when I work with cans of soup so I always have something for lunch.
