This is a fantastic scanner. I've had several lately.

This is a fantastic scanner. I've had several over the past 25 years and this is by far the most user friendly. Do not get me wrong. My PRO-43 was legendary. But I couldn't connect it to my laptop and program it. This Bearcat (my second Bearcat) was purchased for the terrestrial VHF and UHF bands. For no other reason. Please don't complain about missing 800MHz or anything like that. That's not what this scanner is for and it's not advertised as such. In stock form I have 3 problems with it. Runs through 380-400MHz, a weak standard battery, and a crappy antenna. Since the scanner was very cheap I bought an Eneloop battery pack and charger, a Diamond RH77CA antenna and said "come on" to three frequencies I can't get above 380 in Milair. Problem solved. And that is something phenomenal. Read the manual, download the free programming software, update the firmware to version 1.03 and add the above upgrades and you will be satisfied.
