Review on YIYITOOLS 1LB Dead Blow Hammer- Red, Mallet Machinist Tools Unibody Molded Checkered Grip Spark And Rebound Resistant by David West

Comfortable, effective and durable

After listening to an afternoon of the sound of a steel hammer on a prybar while my husband pulled up our old bathroom floor, I ordered this dead blow hammer to see if it would speed things up and dampen the sound. Now I don't know how we've lived without one of these in our house. The 2 lb. head is just heavy enough to let the hammer do the work without being overkill. Because we initially used this against a metal prybar, I was expecting the plastic head to be destroyed, but it didn't have a mark at the end of the day. This was a big surprise because the plastic feels a little cheap in hand, but it seems to be very durable. The handle is a nice length-- a little long so you can get some momentum in your swing-- and the textured grip ensures that it isn't going to fly out of your hand if your work gloves are slippery or your palms are wet. So far we have used this in conjunction with the prybar to pull up 30-year old disgusting plywood nailed to the subfloor, gently tap laminate flooring into a tight space, and finish shimming a cabinet where a regular hammer just wasn't doing the job. And it has done all of these things with virtually no noise and causing no hand fatigue. In addition to being an incredibly useful tool, the steel shot in the head moves around and makes a nice maraca for some added beats while you're working hard. This is a great tool at a great price and the 2 lb. size is very versatile. Buy it!
