For many years I had the original "vise" - the same size as the largest in this set. And I'm sure I paid more for this tool than this entire set and they are at least as good if not better in quality. The smaller size and long nose shape are really versatile than clamps as long as you don't over tighten them. Similarly, the teeth on these grips will gnaw through nuts and bolts if you over-tighten them. The solution, obviously, is not to use more force than necessary. But if you're dealing with exposed fittings and connectors, I tuck a piece of cloth into the jaws (I can double or triple the thickness if needed) to protect the surfaces of what I'm squeezing. Excellent value for money for a tool set. that lasts a lifetime.
