I had an old InSinkErator hot/cold water dispenser until it rusted and fell apart (literally, literally) about six years later. The old one had a filter (as a separate unit, not part of the heater or dispenser) that cleaned the water going into the heater block and cold water side of the dispenser. I bought this as a replacement and was disappointed from the start. This unit also has an extra filter unit which I did not purchase as my filter was still working fine. Unfortunately, the InSinkErator has changed the diameter of the leads, so my old filter block doesn't work with the new InSinkErator block. Instead of buying another filter pack, I bought an adapter from Home Depot and did just that. However, we were disappointed that InSinkErator made this decision. I would be happier if InSinkErator provided the required adapter in the box.2. The faucet dripped out of the box on this InSinkErator. Leakage right where the supply lines enter the faucet block.3. When trying to get a new faucet from InSinkErator, I was told to call a plumber in Philadelphia - 60 miles away - as they were the nearest plumber authorized to perform factory service on my unit. This would require me to take a day off from work and InSinkErator couldn't promise me that the repairs would be done the same day so I might have to take TWO days off. For water dispenser under the sink. Serious. Hundreds of plumbers between Philadelphia and my home, and NONE of them want to work with InSinkErator for warranty support. That tells you something about how InSinkErator works, doesn't it? 4. After I informed InSinkErator that Revain was willing to issue a refund, they (InSinkErator) suddenly changed course and offered to send me a new faucet that I could install myself - which I originally asked for. At this point, I had already started the return process with Revain. So why two stars and not one? Because I suppose if I were lucky enough to get a non-defective block from the factory and therefore not have to deal with InSinkErator's lackluster support policies, that would probably be a very good thing. My old InSinkErator block worked great until it rusted. I will be purchasing and installing a device that is NOT owned by InSinkErator or any other Emerson Electric company.
