You have to assemble it yourself, but there really is no wrong way. However, once the metal rods are screwed together, they're not at the right angle to ever shoot the moon. You have to manually hold the bottom ends and then awkwardly manipulate the top ends. I would like to return this set and get one with the bars already at the correct angle. The way ours was twisted, it was physically impossible to shoot at the moon. Nobody likes it. (I grew up with one of these, so I know how it should work.)
