They are fine. Like many others, they seemed to spin pretty roughly when new, although it wasn't too bad affecting usability, so I just didn't pay attention. They're probably a little smoother after about 1000 miles, but still feel a little rough when you turn them by hand. I noticed this after a ride rock hopping on my 90's hard mountain bike (mainly for rail cruising). traces) that I slightly bent one of the cells, although again this does not affect usability. To be fair, I'm about 225, but I'd still say they're not strong enough for any hooligan action. I've since put a few MTB flats on this bike. It reminded me that these pedals have negligible grip compared to a cleated pedal. They look simple and stylish and are well suited for a cruiser that doesn't have any serious plans. I wouldn't use them on a real tour. I've had some great pairs of MKS pedals, but these aren't one of them.
