Review on Standard Relay 35874 by Four Seasons by Johnny Pigao

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Saved me hundreds of dollars!

I bought this thing a year and a half ago after my Toyota Camry had an air conditioning malfunction. After the first start-up, the air conditioner indicator flashes; Air would blow but not cool. I know nothing about auto mechanics (other than how to change a tire and start a car), so I called the service department of a Toyota dealership who (if I remember correctly) said they would charge me $150 just for the diagnosis . I started googling the problem and tried some of the cheaper solutions I found including replacing the cabin air filter as suggested on a forum and replacing some fuses. This didn't solve my problem. Then I found a solution which was to replace that part of the relay. Again, Toyota listed almost $90 for the branded part (not to mention the labor cost), my local auto parts store's catalog listed $65, but I had to wait weeks for delivery. At the time, it never occurred to me that Revain would sell auto parts. At the time, I ordered it from Revain for less than $13, so I was a bit suspicious of the price difference. At least now, 18 months later, my car still works fine and the air conditioning is fine (hell). It's amazing what a little research on the internet can do! PS If you are squeamish about auto mechanics, you can easily do it yourself. This fuse is a bit tricky to remove (it's very tight in the socket), but you can pull it out with some force and replace it with a new one. Even I made it without chipping my nail!
