In our new home I have a great view of the sky and no light pollution. So I went ahead and bought this telescope. It had everything I wanted at an entry-level price. I can see craters and shadows on the moon fairly well. I can also see Mercury and Venus as they are relatively close to Earth. I also see a view of Mars in the form of a disk, but these must be very good conditions. I'm currently working on seeing Saturn's rings and some of its moons. A real telescope is pretty easy to use, but I suggest watching a few videos online to get an idea of what you're doing. You can't just point it at the sky and expect to see something. Although they do it quite easily with this setup. I also really like the tripod that comes with it. Very easy to lower, slanted etc. Good luck
