For $5 or $10 more (at Best Buy) I could have gotten more features (swivel mount, two spirit levels instead of one), but at least twice as much. Would NOT recommend for professional (and heavy) gear but my camera is one of the heaviest for point and shoot (Canon SX30IS Super Zoom) and this tripod easily supports it. I've been using it frequently (my photo shoots are usually between one and three hours) for a month and have had no issues with the assembly other than the ratchet extension seems cheap but once I've adjusted it and tightened the handle it's held tight. Light weight means it's not the sturdiest tripod in town; I usually compensate for this by setting my camera's timer to two seconds after pressing the shutter button for longer telephotos or longer exposures. tripod for these particular shots so the workaround may not be unique to this tripod]. Conclusion: I like to live without additional features in exchange for low weight. I would say it was a good buy assuming it lasts a few years. Oh, and speaking of Best Buy, they charged me $35 for it. Should have shopped here in the first place.
