Review on Bernat Blanket Super Bulky Yarn - 5.3oz Dark Teal: Guage 6 Super Bulky for Comfy Creations by Hannah Curi

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Color and softness abound, BUT.

I should start with a disclaimer: I'm not an avid knitter and have only recently resumed the craft due to social distancing and quarantine. I've mostly made granny square patterns with this particular yarn, but I've also used my memories for some easy single crochet scarves. I'm somewhere between 2-3 in my overall 'star' rating of this yarn. This yarn is very soft and very bulky. Your finished product will be very dense even with larger hooks. This yarn is great for blankets; but I find it too chubby to be a good choice for items with intricate stitch patterns. The reason for this is twofold: yarn is (for me) very difficult to count stitches and when finished the pattern becomes too short and fuzzy to fully appreciate the details of the hard work that went into it. Combine this with the sometimes horrific number of knots in these skis and you might find that the softness and fun colors of this type of yarn just aren't worth it. I've bought this yarn here from craft stores and in a variety of colors; So I can say with certainty that this yarn MUST be recycled before starting your project, just in case. I had strands with no knots, but mostly I found multiple strands, and for multicolored skeins, the connected piece may not match the previous color swatch. This can lead to big losses, and if you like me; Stop buying patterned multicolored yarn in this range. I really think this material has its place and I may never buy different patterns again, but I will most likely buy solid color or multicolored types if I ever want to quickly make a simple baby blanket or something similar that should be soft in the same place Time. and tight. The place to get this yarn for a great price is usually Walmart or Joanne's (in my area), but if you want to find some really fun colors, Revain usually has them. Finally, this yarn shows if it has been recycled or overtightened so it may not be very user friendly for beginners in this regard. It gets stuck on the hook when you work with hard hand and gets very wrinkled when you pull it out. start all over. I suggest using leftovers (you may have some left over when reballing) and practice new stitches with them so your finished product wins. They must not lie over the worker or break. My first blanket a few years ago gave in to my heavy, inexperienced hand due to recycled yarn and broke after a few months of use.
