I hand washed the bottles and mill heads lightly with lukewarm water. Then the mills would not work at all. I live in the desert near Las Vegas with very low humidity and let them dry overnight. I see in the enclosed booklet that rinsing the coffee grinder is not recommended. Why on earth would you ever run food through an appliance, especially from a factory somewhere in China, without first being cleaned? They are visually exactly what I wanted but are functionally useless if you can't even clean them! I ended up taking the heads apart and leaving the different parts on a dry towel overnight. Now they work. The customization is so-so in my opinion. I can't seem to get them to stew coarse peppers at all, only going from fine to superfine. Not sure I'll keep the set even though it looks great. I also wonder if they will even work in high humidity regions like Florida since they are very moisture sensitive.
