I've had these pears for about 2 weeks now; bought this after positive experiences with its slightly smaller brother, the Sunlite SLG20/G30/50K. The big difference between 20w and 25w incandescent bulbs is that 25w incandescent bulbs heat up much more slowly. Lamps appear to be at about 60% final brightness when turned on and ramp up slowly (over about 2 full minutes) to full brightness, while 20 watt incandescent bulbs appear to start at about 85% final brightness (also reaching full brightness in about 2 minutes). ). This effect can be helpful (used in a washroom where full brightness would be painful in the morning) or distracting (in almost any other room where you want to see immediately without waiting). They emit a lot of light, although I think the higher frequency (5000 Kelvin) seems to need more lumens to 'feel' as bright as the lower frequency (2700 Kelvin or 'soft white'), although this does maybe just mine is imagination. . They're a pretty good size and if you're installing them in lights that are part of a first aid kit, be careful not to twist the base of the light when installing the bulbs, as the large ball makes it easy to see more apply force as usual. . While I wouldn't use them in other rooms of the house, they worked great in the medicine cabinet in the main bathroom as they are dark enough (with 4 over the sink) not to cause blindness if I stumble, but slowly. brighter to provide enough light without the hum or buzz I've heard from other CFLs.
