Found a vent tube that goes from the top of my fuel tank to a squirrel gnawed filler strainer. Fuel cap code on dashboard. The fitting at the vent tube outlet is easy to obtain. But after much trial and error of about an hour, I finally found the right angle to stretch my hands across the fuel tank to loosen that fitting. Hose. It is difficult to heat nylon tubing enough to tighten it and not heat it to melt the tubing. The old hose is next to the new one and using a heat gun I added matching bends. Everything is great, no code and I didn't have to pay $86 for a hose and probably $150 for labor. Even if it hadn't worked, I would have only lost $14. But learn something next time.
