Review on Hygger Sponge Filter for Aquarium - Dual Sponge Media, 4 Biochemical Sponges, 1 Bag of Filtered Ceramic Balls - Ultra Quiet Fish Tank Filter (S/M) by Natalie Wright

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like them, but there are downsides.

I have two of these in my tail tank. They do an excellent job of maintaining water quality. They come with two sets of sponges so you can swap out a clean one for a used one to clean a used one. They are powered by an air pump and are only as aggressive as your air pump is powerful. My betta is 10 gallons with two of them on a powerful air pump and my water quality is excellent. Make sure you don't remove both sponges at once as this will destroy your biofilter :) Change one at a time to allow the new sponges to colonize the bacteria before replacing the next one. Benefits: 1. Efficient biological filter keeps tanks in top condition2. It creates movement and airflow in the aquarium, which is good for fish, even fish like betta that don't need it can benefit.3. My Betta loves them and loves to swim and hide in them.4. Supplied with biofilter and additional sponges. Disadvantages: 1. I have found that the worms in my beta version get sucked in very easily and clog the filters. Then I have to remove the sponges to remove the worms. Flake food doesn't do this, it just seems like dried worms.2. Algae can grow on sponges and affect their usefulness. follow them Also remember that this requires an air pump which is not included. Choose your air pump carefully as many of them are quite noisy.
