Now I've done a crash course and educated myself a little bit about telescopes. I can honestly say that this product is a decent value. When it comes to the aperture size of a telescope, that's the main thing. Aperture size affects image quality. This is even more important than magnification. This telescope has an aperture of 60mm, which is one of the smallest I've seen in my research. The larger the aperture, the better the image will be. I would call it a beginner's telescope and nothing more. This way you can observe the stars without spending a lot more money on a better telescope. However, if I could do it again, I would spend more and choose the best. This telescope is a bit more difficult to set up and use. than medium-heavy/expensive telescopes. This is a common issue for lower level telescopes. Which in turn makes it difficult for children to use. This is mainly because children want to look at the stars, moon and planets. Don't look for these objects. You will end up spending more time properly aligning and fine-tuning your scope and mirror than with more expensive scopes. So I suggest you do this first before involving the kids. I would also advise becoming familiar with the operation of your telescope. Nothing ruins an experience like waiting and waiting. You don't seem to have the patience I had when I was younger. The tripod extends to about 47 inches, which is right between needing to lean over the telescope and getting something kids can stand on to see through the telescope. I live in a place where we have very little evening light. So perfect for star gazing. But if you live in a place with a lot of light pollution, it limits what you can see in the night sky. During testing I was able to find different stars and planets. Mars was visible but I couldn't see any detail or clarity. They could see Jupiter in faint detail and barely make out Saturn's rings. The moon will of course be the clearest satellite you can see in the night sky. Ability to see high detail and areas of interest. Venus was also pretty good to see. Star clusters, nebulae and galaxies are really outside the scope of this product. I had to wait several weeks for this product after taking a crash course in astronomy. I was able to start live practice and using this scope. I was able to get acquainted with the telescope and some apps that track the night sky to make it easier to find interesting places. That being said, the first week it took me a long time to locate certain stars and planets. But I was able to shorten the time after the first week. To the point where I felt comfortable enough that my grandkids came over and started watching. They had fun and the smartphone holder was great because they didn't have to try to find their position in the eyepieces. This way everyone can see the object at the same time and you can take a photo or video of the study. They loved it and it was an educational experience in every way. To many questions that I would not be able to answer without "your internets”. If you absolutely need an entry-level telescope, this is a good choice. But if possible, save money and get a larger aperture. I could not find any guarantees in the product information or in the product description. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All in all, if you want an entry-level telescope, you can get it. When you just see how excited your child can be for stargazing. Something like this is probably a good choice. Telescopes can get pretty expensive. On the whole, I probably wouldn't have chosen that now that I've strayed a bit from astronomy. It's limited but still fun and will serve a purpose to the point where you need to get something more powerful. The telescope is at the lower end of the scale in terms of performance and image quality. You explore and you get something with a wide aperture. There are many competitors offering similar products in the same price range. I hope this information was helpful. [3 Stars] This product is made in China.
