Maintenance is worth it.
Just what I needed for my old Mercury Optimax outboard. At first I was concerned about the ease of changing this. If you have a cheap strap wrench, it's pretty easy. When you do this for the first time, the cable simply unplugs from the blue connector below. Place a towel under the filter to catch any spilled fuel and fill the filter with some fuel before reinstalling. I bought a used boat that hasn't been changed in a few years and after seeing the horrible things the filter picks up I believe in changing them out regularly.
