Works as advertised

Works as advertised and has worked reliably on my commuter bike for a few years. The complaint about the 'shiny' finish and things moving is correct, but it's easy to fix by either wrapping it with tape or a rubber band. I haven't had this problem as the headlight and computer I'm installing have rubber inner surfaces and I made sure to tighten them securely. I also see that the diameter might seem a bit small, but again easily solved with rubber/tape/old tubing. I'd rather say too small than too big. Installation can be difficult, but it's not impossible. Some people seem to have been having trouble, so I thought I'll write what I do: (1) Before you begin, put the barrel nut, screw, small screwdriver, and correct size hex wrench in your pocket or in your pocket reach arm. (2) Place the bracket with the two clamp levers and the main body on the handlebar so that the main body is ABOVE the handlebar and not facing forward. That way you're not working against gravity trying to bring everything together. (3) Hold the two clamp arms and the main body together with one hand, insert the barrel nut into the bracket with the other hand so that the barrel nut hole is parallel to the ground, and the two clamp arms are caught by the barrel nut. It may require some wiggling to get the barrel nut through both clamp arms. (4) While holding the barrel nut with one hand (thumb + forefinger) and holding the whole assembly (palm + other fingers), use the other hand. to insert the bolt into the bolt hole in the main body. The bolt hole is either in front or behind the bike and parallel to the ground. (4a) If the barrel nut hole is too far out of alignment to insert the screw, insert a small screwdriver into the screw hole. and use this to turn the barrel nut and lock the alignment. Do this without letting go of the knot as your hand is the only thing holding it together. (5) Hand tighten the bolt, locking the stem nut in place and keeping the whole assembly together, then rotate the bracket FORWARD on the bike (6) Use an Allen wrench to hold it in place, but be careful not to over tighten to tighten. It takes me less than five minutes to reposition the holder when needed, and I rarely have to retry or dig for a dropped barrel nut.
