Yes, this is the RIGHT THING. If you actually use your kerosene lamps for a few HOURS each day, you end up CUTTING about 1/4 inch each day. I HIGHLY recommend that you CUT your wicks to 12 or 14 inches LONG BECAUSE there is always about 3-5 inches at the end that WILL BE LOST because it doesn't reach the fuel so those 8 inch wicks will just burn you about 4-5 cm (4" x 1/4" per day = 16 days of use until you get rid of the old 8" wick.) So if you cut off the 14" wicks and the last 4" lose, burn 10" . until it's time for a change. 10" x 1/4" per day = 40 days usage. (MUCH less waste.)
