heavy duty 20 ton bottle jack: fully extended 18 1/4 inches, which was slightly taller than the listed specs. I wanted the tallest jack so 20 tons went with it and won't lift as much it's good to have something sturdier. Significantly lighter than my old worn out jack and takes up a quarter of the space so a bottle jack takes up a bulky 2- barrel jack I kept the pickup. So when you let go of the jack, the cylinder will only lower until the weight is off, and won't go down on its own without coaxing the jack under the frame. The cylinder does then manually lower it fully. It may be best to tighten the release valve while the jack is stored to prevent fluid spillage.
