Works great, but very soft cotton can make thumb manipulation difficult.

. This is very close to the traditional method of taking cotton balls, twisting them into threads and using them as a wick. Keep in mind that this is pretty hard to tell apart, but there's a direction that works better. So when the wick isn't burning well, it's upside down. Pull it out, shift up/down, and you'll notice an improvement right away. Heavier wicks will show a V-pattern in the weave and this is how you should insert it (V-shaped open end up). This is how candle makers make their wicks. On the contrary, it burns badly. I haven't seen the V-weave - it just looks like tangled straight cotton threads. It caught fire on first use and stayed fantastic but I had to play around with ghee and got it pulled out. After replacing it, it suddenly stopped working and immediately went out. I flipped which end I was using and it was perfect. So I guess I just don't see the weave.
