As an amateur bodybuilder approaching 50, I have to take my diet seriously. One of the few areas I focus on is exercise nutrition, and Branched Chain Amino Acids, or BCAAs, are still considered the gold standard in this area. With VMI Sports Aminogex Ultra you not only get BCAAs, but also essential amino acids, EAAs for short, as well as betaine and glutamine, the latter of which I already add separately. post-workout, and indeed the directions suggest taking up to two scoops per day, but one scoop at different times. Again, I like to drink something like this during my workouts and do other things before and after my workouts, but this type of supplement is pretty flexible anyway. When opening the canister, it doesn't smell much, which is actually a good thing. I'm always suspicious when smells get the best of me. This softness translates into taste. A single level scoop mixes easily with 8 or 16 ounces of water (I prefer the former over the latter), and even if it's just 8 ounces of water, you get a mild tropical flavor with hints of coconut and pineapple most in the flavor profile. The scoop also has a very long handle to reach the bottom of the canister, although this can be a bit of a nuisance when you're trying to reclose the canister with a lot of product. Aminogex Ultra is vegan and sweetened with sucralose. The calories are negligible for something like this, but the nutritional profile is high. The recommended amount is approximately 30 scoops per serving per container. Overall I appreciate all the nutrients packed in well thought out ratios in this product. I also appreciate the mild flavor profile. Compared to some other products in this category that overwhelm you with sweetness, the blend is more subtle, although like many of these products, the flavor profile builds as you drink more of the portion. If you are looking for a good EAA/BCAA blend this is a good choice.
