Review on ACDelco 510 850 Professional Compartment Support by Michael Caste

Easy to assemble despite poor documentation

I ordered these tailgate support legs for my 2003 Chevy Suburban 1500. On site. There were a few cheaper alternatives (just a few bucks) that had good reviews, but I figured I'd go with a well-known brand. I'm glad I did. The instructions that accompany the shelves are very poor. They are confusing because they provide instructions for replacing struts with multiple connection types, even if those particular struts have the same connection type. Eventually I got to the point where I dropped the instructions and just looked at how the existing racks connected to the car. It was very easy. All I had to do was pull and pull out two locking pins (one on top and one on bottom) on the existing stands. After that, the new racks just fell into place. It was literally that easy. Just make sure you have someone with you to help raise the overhead gate while you do this.

Pros
  • Top quality manufacturer
Cons
  • Very expensive
