Do not put in a large tank

Do not put in a large tank. I got this to replace my old sensor that was basically ruined by my UV lamp and heat bulbs. But I found its range to be tiny! It just seems to read the temperature of the wall it's attached to. I was hoping it would show the temperature of the warm side of my 120g beard tank. When I checked the heat with my thermometer, the wall it's attached to reads 84°F and the gauge reads 84°F (at least it's very accurate), but next to that I get readings of 94°F and 112°F ...
