Difficult assembly for me, incomprehensible and incomplete instructions

I got it to replace door handles that are probably 20 years old, so not very old. However, the holes I had for these doorknobs didn't match these, so I had to drill a bit to get them to fit. The locking mechanism is rectangular instead of round. I know things have changed over time so be careful when buying these in place of old doorknobs. The other parts didn't fit either. If you want the latch mechanism to fit snugly against the edge of the door, you'll need to sand it down a bit so it sits flush. The door jamb piece didn't fit as well as my old one so I just left the old one. In the end, I just take them off and paint them to match in matte black. But they are bigger and have screw holes in different places so I don't know why they did it. I've changed door handles in the past - for door handles much older than this one - and I haven't had these problems. Another issue I had with the installation was that the bars already had screws on them. I snapped all three pieces together and when I tried to put the screws in, something got in the way. The instructions don't say anything about this, but I eventually found that those screws need to be removed first - an important step in that direction. Speaking of direction, they are for a round door handle, not a lever door handle. They are different so they should have specific instructions for these doorknobs. If you need to change the direction of the button, there are no instructions on how to do that either. Luckily the first thing I pasted was already in the right direction. But I have other doors that I need to flip them on, so I guess I'll have to take care of that myself. When I finally got it installed - after much well-chosen words which I'm sure my neighbors liked - it looks and works pretty well, but is a bit cramped. The lock is the tricky part, so I'm glad I don't have to use it. But they're there if I ever do. Overall they look good but I had a hard time installing them. I have two installed but I need to figure out the swipe before installing the rest.
