Ease of installation varies widely from car to car but I had to remove the dash and center console before I could replace the faulty connector with this one. If you are inexperienced in causing this type of "damage" to your car or are uncomfortable with it, look for a standard accessory connector. Removing it later to replace it with a standard hole would be very problematic due to the larger hole you will likely need.
