When my Xfinity service was installed Comcast provided a rented cable modem that was very large and provided other services that are good for Xfinity but that buyers do not help. My location was shown incorrectly on the maps (I'm assuming this is the home of the previous person who rented this modem). After purchasing a much smaller D-Link DOCSIS modem, I took both modems to Xfinity where they registered my new modem and de-registered the rented one. When I got home, I plugged in the cable and power cord and hit the power button. That's all! After about half an hour of different flashing lights, I was connected to the internet. And my location on the maps is correct now.
