I love the weight of chef's knives
I've noticed a lot of negative reviews about them being too heavy for hunters and butchers. I think they're excellent tools if you treat them well. The weight works to your advantage and as for the sharpness I thought it was ok right away, but I sharpen my own knives and the kid has a great blade.
