Very strong. Good weight for her. BUT - despite being listed as 18/10 stainless (best for this application), the knives are NOT 18/10. You appear to be 18/0. The technical reason for this is that 18/10 doesn't hold an edge well. Magnets will stick to 18/0 but not 18/8 or 18/10. Forks, spoons etc are all marked '18/10' and the magnet will not stick. No stains or pits (18/10 is very good in that sense). The knives are marked 'stainless steel' (no alloy spec) and the magnet gets stuck between that and the pitting, I'm confident it's 18/0. spots and pits. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Keine Antwort. Very disappointing. Used to be a reliable brand. We bought a service for 16 and are now considering whether to keep it. Very disappointing. I'll be hand washing for now, but I haven't had to do that in the past 30 years with the Retroneau set I've had before. I hope someone at Lenox will respond with an offer. The water in my well isn't particularly hard or acidic.<<Continued February 19, 2021>>Forks, spoons, everything is fine. I've learned a thing or two about handling knives. I've tried SO MANY THINGS as LENOX didn't bother to offer some SUGGESTIONS. Did I say "grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"? The spoons and forks are 18/10. Knife 18/0. So these are different alloys. If you combine two dissimilar metals and put an electrolyte in between, you get a battery, just like in high school science class. I've tried many different things - detergent, rinse aid, etc. I've tried putting knives in the top (third) basket of the dishwasher. I found that any alignment that caused it to fall or puddle created a problem. Mixing the two alloys created a problem. That's where I ended up. I can't put the knives on the third shelf because the drops settle on the knife. Place the cutlery in the dishwasher's cutlery basket BUT ALL KNIVES IN ONE END SECTION. Keeping them upright helps with drainage. Leave the adjacent section BLANK. Put other things in other sections. You don't want NOTHING touching the knife stack. Use rinse aid. DO NOT use a heated dryer. It will air dry normally. Heat drying tends to exacerbate mineral or hardness problems. Wipe the knives with a clean, dry kitchen towel when you put them away. And THIS is how you can learn to live with these knives. PITA BREAD.
