Review on Nikon 27046 WT 5A Wireless Transmitter by Amy Punswick

Excellent wireless implementation for D4

I love this wireless. It's small and unobtrusive. I've used it with an iPad and iPhone to control the camera remotely. This is by far the best remote control you can use as you can preview the image on the screen. I also used it to download photos to my computer. It's not as fast as a wired connection or card reader, but still not bad. It's also a great way to view your footage in the field on a big screen. I find it difficult to critique a photo on the D4's 3-inch screen, but I can view photos on my iPad for instant feedback when I need to make adjustments. I've also used it to preview photos before taking them. Objects in portrait work. Again - real-time feedback allows you to make technical adjustments and your subject can also correct their actions. The web interface is pretty good. It's not perfect, but it's logical enough. I set this up with two profiles, one with my shared network and router and the other for a field specific profile ideal for remote control applications. set up networks. If you're not used to this, the guide isn't bad, but it's not great. An "easy setup" guide would be nice. .Several improvements: (1) Would like a small hardware on/off switch. It is disabled in the menu when not in use, but is often forgotten. Thankfully, the D4's battery is fairly tolerant of this device's relatively low power draw. (2) It's just too big to comfortably plug a USB cable into an adjacent socket. If I want to connect a camera, I have to detach it so I don't have to worry about hitting the jack. (3) The rubber bushing cover flops when I plug it in. I expect to accidentally pick it one day.

  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
