What a BIG little sledgehammer

WOW! I am very happy with this little sledgehammer. As many other reviewers have repeatedly pointed out, it feels great in the hand and is worth the money for the leatherwork. Some remarks on its construction; The total weight of the hammer is 11.4 ounces, with 9.8 ounces in the head. This means that when you strike, most of the weight is on you. The short handle and the way it's held makes it feel comfortable and controlled when in use. I've had a few good hits on my quartz countertop and haven't felt anything snap off or fly away so it seems pretty solid. Just understand that this is a "precision" tool designed for instrumental and light work. While you can certainly add rivets and snaps, and even smooth down the leather a bit, it's still nylon and lightweight. It doesn't have enough weight to do heavy work and you run the risk of slipping off tools that require more punch. But when it comes to detailing, I could use it for hours without getting tired or sick. If you are looking for your first sledgehammer to work with, I would definitely recommend this tool.
