Review on Dorman First D670196 Caliper Repair by Thomas Drew

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2005 Mercedes ML500

Firstly I have no idea why the picture shows 4 outer boots (2 large 2 smaller) and only 3 inner rubber grommets? All 4 inner seals are included, although the picture only shows 3, I wouldn't order these unless I only needed 1 outer seal which ripped when I was changing the brake pads. A week to get from Revain and my car was waiting for this part so I also ordered a kit from my local Mercedes dealer to see who could get it to me first. The dealer had the part with me in 2 days, so of course the dealer was quicker. However, the dealer's repair kit did not include internal seals and cost $48 ($52 with tax, no shipping). The part here at Revain is much cheaper if you can wait a week. For only $11 I was able to do the inner and outer seals on all 4 brakes for which the dealer only charged 1 set of brakes on the outside only. Having a new set of original gaskets from the dealer and having this new set at the same time. also allowed me to compare them side by side to see why the dealer part costs so much more. I could not find any differences between this part and the OEM direct from Mercedes. Next time I fix brakes I will order them and do all 4 brakes whether they need replacing or not.

Pros
  • Replacement restores regular disc brakes
Cons
  • Upgradeable
