I recently bought a surfboard to add to my watersports wardrobe. I bought these shorts based on their good reviews and they met my high expectations. These shorts have a panty lining which is nice because they are comfortably loose in the leg holes and the lining is comfortable (no seams in the crotch) and means I don't have to worry about exposing myself when I bend over or sit bent-legged in front of me (both are common when I row). Like other reviewers, it is noted that the shorts are made of stretchy synthetic material and look more like a typical swimsuit than typical surf shorts. If I were surfing a big foam board I would dismiss the fabric choice because it would stick easier on a rough surface, but everything is fine on my smooth paddle board. The shorts dry quickly and because of their stretch, the sizing is more forgiving than a more static fabric. I ordered the 'large' (12-14) based on previous reviews and am happy with that choice - they fit snugly around the waist and as mentioned are a little loose in the leg holes and fit me perfectly. size larger. If I could change anything about these shorts I would add a pocket or two. I'm not deducting any stars for this as bags weren't promised - I just hope the producer reads these reviews and considers adding them to future versions of these excellent shorts.
