Review on πŸ”¨ IRWIN Tools Precision Mitre Square 1794473 by Michael Bustamante

Don't bother

Maybe it's just what I have but mine is hardly good although for the price it's not worth returning. I wouldn't even recommend this angle for amateur woodwork where angle isn't that important. It is definitely not suitable for tool settings or precision work. My plastic case has a recess in the middle on both sides that can come in contact with the workpiece. There are clear marks on both sides where the plastic of the tool has been roughly sanded to make it flat (this is from the factory btw; it was new boxed). This is a small square that can be used with finer details. ; The only way my square works like a square is that the blank is thicker than the plastic part of the square and can cover very noticeable dips. I wasn't expecting a $6 quality instrument from Starrett, but I'm pretty sure my $6 in Harbor Freight would have gone further.

Pros
  • Consistent results when tested
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model
