Heavy steel auger construction and very strong welds between auger and shank give it strength not only in loose soil but also in compacted clay soil. The snail is covered with a thick layer of paint that protects it from corrosion. There is nothing I dislike about this drill and I would recommend it to others who want a quality drill at an affordable price.
