I'm adding a comment to my April 2006 original on 7/27/08: If I only used this machine once a year it would deserve a place the he occupies on my kitchen countertop. I probably only use it 3-4 times a year but I couldn't live without it. I just finished Nigella Lawson's Margarita Ice Cream (Food TV). If you have doubts about an ice cream maker, take this recipe and try it, you'll be glad you have an ice cream maker. Again, I recommend the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Recipe Book! ------------------ I never thought ice cream could be so easy. Someone at work shared their book Ben and Jerry with me, which inspired me to buy an ice cream maker. i love this car It used to take me all day as a kid to operate this manual ice cream maker (once upon a time), now this machine does it in less than 30 minutes. I feel like Rachel Ray! Since the half-gallon ice cream was reduced to 56 ounces at the grocery store, I immediately spent my money on ingredients to make my own. My first batch were strawberries from the Cuisinart recipe book that came with the machine. . It was wonderful. Just make sure your bowl is good and frozen, one batch I had to make twice because I only left the bowl in the freezer for 18-20 hours. Reviewer B. Pfahnl "bpfahnl" suggested putting a ziplock bag of ice cubes in a bowl when you put them in the freezer - great suggestion. ice at once. Because of the price and the fat in the cream, I use a portion cut in half. Good ice cream too. And another co-worker suggested using about 1/4 cup of Dream Whip for smoothness. The jury hasn't decided on that yet. But everything is fine. Apparently you can't go wrong. If you don't have it yet, hurry up! Until summer comes and you really fancy some delicious homemade ice cream!
