Review on Starrett S3020Z Toolmakers Stainless Square by Trey Ali

Country of origin of the best in joinery

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on who you are) I found out that they are made in China, as I was about to pick them up when I saw the manufacturer's statement that "many others are American made", I went to the Starrett website to find an American made set. Unfortunately, Starrett does not list the country of origin of their instruments on their website. To test this tool I went to [.] and additionally downloaded their newsletter on these squares [.] (also linked to the first link above) and none of them indicate the country of origin. I am not penalizing you for having some of your products made in other countries. I punish you for not stating where your products are made. They claim it doesn't matter where it's made as long as Starrett oversees production, which implies I shouldn't care either. The reality is, I'm willing to pay a premium [or ask for a discount] to buy a product, depending on where it's made. Starrett, you can argue that quality is in the DNA. I sincerely believe it was once true. Unfortunately, it looks like your business has been taken over by "accountants and marketers" who rotate your marketing materials based on what sounds good, rather than typists or handymen who focus on what *is* .
